Mexico Patlanalán
Tasting Notes
Description
Mexico is one of the world's major Arabica coffee producing countries, but it is relatively less known in the specialty market. Over 90% of coffee production comes from small farms, and most of it is traded at low prices by local wholesalers. While quantitative growth has been achieved through such trade over a long period, the quality has not been fairly recognized. Among them, Patlanalán, located in a remote area deep in the Puebla region, shows special potential. High altitude, cool climate, and a pristine environment surrounded by forests provide ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality coffee. The rugged terrain makes vehicle access difficult, and even now, cherries are transported by mules, reflecting the reality of this region. Here, people sustain their livelihoods by cultivating various crops such as bananas alongside coffee. Although the scale is not large, the honest cultivation methods passed down have made the flavor of Patlanalán coffee even more distinct. Terarosa has been introducing coffee produced by the community of Patlanalán, a small village, since 2023. Although still unfamiliar, it is a region with special potential and worth more attention in the future. We invite you to experience the charm of Mexico directly through this Patlanalán coffee, with its harmonious blend of subtle raisin aroma and rich molasses sweetness.
