Hacienda La Esmeralda Natural Gesha
Description
In 2025, a Hacienda La Esmeralda washed Gesha achieved 98 points at the Best of Panama competition and sold for a record breaking US $30,204 per kilogram, solidifying Panama’s position as a leader in specialty coffee. The cherries for this lot were picked selectively, delivered to the mill in Palmira, and dried using the natural method. The team spread the fruit on raised beds for 46 days. Slow drying under controlled airflow creates a precise concentration of fruit notes while keeping the structure clean. When you taste it, that long drying time shows up as clarity rather than heaviness. Esmeralda is known for strict quality control at each stage, from hand picking to microlot separation to daily evaluation during drying, full traceability and a constant dialogue between farm practices and sensory goals. They also work with long-term environmental care in mind, protecting soil, water and biodiversity across their land. Their results speak for themselves: multiple wins at Best of Panama across washed and natural Gesha categories, including Producer of the Year in 2017, 2019, and 2025. But awards only show part of the story. The deeper truth is in the taste. Few coffees carry this level of precision, purity, and depth. This Natural Gesha is the most exclusive coffee we have released to date. It represents the kind of craft that continues to push specialty coffee forward and we’re proud to share it with those who seek coffees that feel both rare and purposeful. If you want brewing guidance or roast-profile insights, leave a note at checkout. This coffee works beautifully as both filter and competition-style espresso.
