La Huerta, Honduras, Washed
Tasting Notes
Description
La Huerta, a small high-elevation coffee farm in La Paz, Marcala, is owned by Jorge Alberto Lanza, a third-generation coffee producer. ONA Coffee has worked with Jorge for over a decade, solidifying ties with the Lanzas and Honduras. At 1,550 to 1,700 masl, the farm benefits from cool air and misty mornings, allowing cherries to mature slowly. The Lanza legacy began with Jorge's grandfather, who planted Bourbon and Typica. In the 1990s, Jorge modernised the farm, introducing Catimor for climate resilience and quality. Catimor thrives under shade, managed meticulously by Jorge. Celebrated for tropical fruit acidity and honey-like sweetness, La Huerta’s coffees earn high scores, reflecting Jorge’s dedication to enhancing Honduras’s specialty coffee reputation.
