About the farm The Hartmann Family is considered as one of the pioneers of the specialty coffee production in Panama. Finca Hartmann was founded by Ratibor Hartmann in 1940, and it is now operated by the 3rd generation of the family. Located in Santa Clara, Renacimiento, Chiriquí Province, there are nearly 100 hectares of forest reserves bordering on the Parque Nacional de La Amistad. The coffee is grown between 1300 and 2000 masl, under the shade of native rainforest trees that have been there for many years. The Hartmann family try not to cut trees. Instead, they replant native trees and plantains to maintain the natural cycle and a healthy soil and fauna. Except tradition, the Hartmanns are also eager to explore the opportunity to experiment with new processing methods and varietals. With the growing demand of customers for specially produced lots of coffee, they address with their needs by introducing several projects and small fincas. Each member of the family is passionately involved in the management and performs a different function in the growth, production and tourism of the farm. Coffee for them is not only a way of living, but it is also their culture and a lot of love.
