Beloya
Tasting Notes
Description
Two decades of tradition meets refined precision at the reimagined Kochere washing station: blueberry sweetness, cocoa & florals. Set in the hills of Kochere, just north of Chelelektu, Beloya Washing Station has supported local farmers for more than twenty years. It continues to play a vital role in receiving and processing the region’s harvest. Now under new ownership, Beloya is growing with improved facilities, including dual processing units, a dedicated water system and twelve fermentation tanks. At the Addis Ababa dry mill, laser colour sorting ensures each lot is prepared with accuracy and care. High altitudes, iron-rich soils and heirloom varietals define this part of Gedeo. Farmers here continue to work with traditional, organic methods passed down through generations, producing coffees with real depth and character. Ripe cherries are hand-sorted, dried on raised beds for up to three weeks, and thoughtfully prepared for export. Each step is guided by a focus on quality and respect for origin, allowing the distinct character of Kochere to come through in every cup. We recommend resting our coffee inside its sealed bag for a minimum of 21 days to enjoy the best results. Recommended for espresso and filter.
