Felix got to know this special variety a few years ago in El Salvador and has been trying to bring it to our roastery ever since. That wasn't too easy, because high-quality Laurina is firstly (still) rare, secondly difficult to cultivate and thirdly the yield is low. But it has a great taste and - so to speak the coffee cherry on top of the icing on the cake - is naturally very low in caffeine. So it's ideal for an afternoon coffee or a super gentle start into the day. Anyway, so after all we ended up with two great Laurinas on our cupping table and couldn't decide. There were really good arguments for the washed one, but also really good arguments for the natural processed coffee. We just couldn't make our choice. Then we did something that we rarely do (especially not with coffees in this price range): We blended them to see what happens. An experiment like that can go wrong. But in this case, however, we ended up with this wonderful Laurina blend that combines the elegance of the washed with the fruitiness of the natural coffee.
