Gititu
Description
Clean and expressive fully Washed AA lot produced by the Gititu Coffee Factory. Complex mix of dark berries, juicy citrus and floral aroma. Black currant like deep berry notes mix with sweet grapefruit, big sweetness and great acidity structure. A washed Kenyan AA lot processed at the Gitutu Factory in Nyeri, Central Kenya. Coffee cherries are grown by around 800 surrounding smallholder farmers who deliver them to the Gititu Factory wet mill owned and organised by Aguthi Farmers' Cooperative Society. Varieties grown by the smallholder farmers are the traditional SL-28 & SL-34 and Ruiru 11 as well as Batian. Each smallholder typically manages about 100 trees. As smallholder farming is very typical in Kenya, the quality of the production is very much the result of the careful cherry selection prior to processing and lot separation by picking date and quality post production at the Factory. All our coffees are roasted for both filter and espresso.
