Peru Santa Rosa
Tasting Notes
Description
Balanced, gentle and versatile — Santa Rosa is a classic washed coffee from northern Peru, perfect for everyday drinking. In the cup, you’ll find sweet notes of red grape, lifted by citrussy acidity and a soft, nutty finish. It’s a coffee you’ll want to come back to — clean, light, and effortlessly enjoyable. Santa Rosa is a blend of microlots from several dozen smallholder farmers in the Jaén province of Cajamarca, grown at altitudes ranging from 1,550 to 1,990 metres above sea level. After harvesting, the cherries undergo traditional washed processing, followed by patio drying until they reach the desired moisture level. This lot was sourced through Origin Coffee Lab – a Peruvian organisation working closely with local growers, offering support and training in processing, quality, and logistics. While coffee production in this region presents its challenges, Origin has been steadily helping to standardise practices and improve the overall cup quality. Their approach is based on a farmer-led model, ensuring producers receive prices well above the local market rate.
