Rubirizi
Tasting Notes
Description
This coffee comes from smallholders on Rubirizi Hill in the Rwenzori Mountains of Western Uganda, grown at altitudes between 1,600–1,800 masl. It is processed at the Lunar Coffee Washing Station, established in 2021 by Long Miles Coffee. Lunar Coffee works directly with local farmers, ensuring care and precision at every step. PROCESSING The cherries are picked at peak ripeness, floated, and hand-sorted to remove defects. They are then fermented in Jacky Bins for 60 hours, with pH carefully maintained between 3.8–4.5, before being dried for 10–15 days under protective cover to preserve flavour and prevent heat damage. TRACEABILITY This lot was sourced through Osito Coffee, in partnership with Long Miles Coffee, who bring over a decade of experience from Burundi to Uganda. Their goal is to elevate Ugandan coffee through precise production methods and farmer support.

Price Paid for Green Coffee (ex. shipping): £12.2/kg
Amount Purchased: 60kg
Harvest: May - June 2025
