Rotutu
Description
The Rotutu Cooperative consists of 16 farmers, all farming at around 1420masl. The cooperative started working with Karst Organics during the 2018 harvest. Karst Organics work with the Rotutu Coop. on a cherry model, buying cherry from the farmers in the group and assisting them in the processing at a centralised facility. This lot was processed using a traditional washed technique. Cherry is pulped, before being fermented in tanks. The coffee is fully washed before being dried on raised African drying beds. Sourced through Karst Organics, who solely work in Timor-Leste. Karst Organics are tightly integrated with the communities they source from, spending six months of the year at origin. Karst Organics operate with full transparency and traceability; farmers were paid $0.85/kg for premium red cherry. This is the 7th year they have worked with the Rotutu Cooperative, and our 4th year buying coffee from this farmer group. Price Paid for Green Coffee (ex. shipping): £9.00/kg Amount Purchased: 120kg Harvest: May - August 2025
